Technical Guide: Choosing the Right Conductor

1. Conductivity (Resistance Ω/m)

Not all wires conduct electricity equally. A turbomax® series conductor has a resistance as low as 0.01 Ω/m, allowing energy to travel for miles without loss. In contrast, entry-level trapper® conductors are ideal for short or domestic paddocks. Remember: the lower the resistance (Ω), the longer the distance your fence can cover.

2. Breaking Strain (Mechanical Strength)

For heavy livestock or wind-exposed areas, breaking strain is vital. We offer ranger® R6 ropes and GALVADUR wires capable of withstanding up to 500 kg of pressure, ensuring the fence remains intact under physical stress from animals or the environment.

Expert Installation Tips:

  • Horses: Always use 20mm or 40mm tapes. Their limited distance vision requires a highly visible physical barrier to prevent accidental collisions.
  • Gateways: For access points, the farmer® Stretch W3 elastic rope is essential to maintain tension without interrupting electrical flow.
  • Permanent Fences: The Original Control Wire is a legend for its longevity; it is the smartest investment for fixed perimeters that won't move for decades.
  • Insulation: Don't forget to protect contact points with our insulating tubing to prevent power leaks on wooden posts.
