Walkways and platforms

Pedestrian walkways, platforms and aluminium ramps for crossing trenches, height differences, steps and temporary or permanent access points on construction sites, public spaces, homes, shops and industrial installations.

Aluminium walkways and platforms for construction and accessibility

Aluminium walkways and platforms for construction and accessibility

This category brings together solutions designed to create safe passages over excavations, connect areas separated by height differences and facilitate access for pedestrians and people with reduced mobility.

The range includes pedestrian walkways for construction sites, platforms with guardrails, portable ramps and accessibility systems for manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Each model must be selected according to the required length, the height to be overcome, the passage width, the load capacity and the type of user or expected traffic.

Pedestrian walkways for construction sites and excavations

Aluminium pedestrian walkways are used to create temporary passages over trenches, excavations, height differences and work areas that interrupt the usual pedestrian route.

They can also be used to connect scaffolding, prefabricated buildings, work platforms and other temporary structures when there is a level difference or separation to overcome.

Their aluminium construction combines structural strength with reduced weight, making transport, placement and removal easier when the work is finished.

Available lengths

The choice of length will depend on the width of the excavation, the support surface available at both ends and the specific conditions of the site.

  • 1.20 m: for narrow trenches and small urban interventions.
  • 1.60 m: suitable for temporary passages in areas with limited space.
  • 2.20 m: suitable for excavations and medium-width access points.
  • 2.60 m: for works where a greater distance between supports is required.
  • 3.20 m: allows wider trenches and separations to be crossed.
  • 4 m: intended for construction projects and industrial installations.
  • 5 m: for long temporary passages and infrastructure works.
  • 6 m: suitable for large excavations when the model and supports allow that configuration.

Before selecting the length, check the clear distance to be crossed and the minimum support required at each end of the walkway.

Guardrails, handrails and toe boards

Construction walkways may include folding and removable handrails, making transport and storage easier when the equipment is not installed.

Depending on the model, side protection may include a guardrail of approximately 1 metre in height, an intermediate rail and a lower toe board of around 20 cm.

The exact configuration and regulatory compliance must be checked in the technical documentation for each product and in relation to the regulations applicable at the place of installation.

Pedestrian walkways, not vehicle ramps

Pedestrian walkways are intended for people traffic and for the loads expressly indicated for each model. They must not be used for vehicles, machinery or construction equipment unless the technical sheet specifically confirms that application.

Accessibility platforms and ramps

Accessibility platforms and ramps make it possible to overcome steps, kerbs, height differences and access sections in homes, shops, public buildings and other spaces.

They are designed to facilitate the movement of manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters and accompanied users.

There are portable solutions for occasional use and longer platforms with guardrails for more stable installations or extended routes.

Solutions according to the environment

Homes and small shops

Lightweight ramps for overcoming thresholds, kerbs, small steps and occasional access points. Their portable format allows them to be placed and removed when necessary.

  • Compact models that are easy to transport.
  • Non-slip surfaces depending on the reference.
  • Stops or support systems to maintain position during use.

Public buildings and permanent access

Longer platforms for creating accessible routes in public centres, residential communities, shops and spaces where there is frequent use.

  • Options with handrails and side protection.
  • Internal passage widths of up to 100 cm depending on the model.
  • Configurations adapted to different lengths and height differences.

Construction areas and temporary access

Removable walkways and platforms for creating temporary routes during refurbishments, excavations, renovation works and construction jobs.

Main features

  • Aluminium structure: combines strength with easy handling.
  • Non-slip surface: improves grip during passage, depending on the model finish.
  • Folding guardrails: make transport and storage easier.
  • Side protection: available on walkways and platforms intended for elevated routes.
  • Different lengths: allow the passage to be adapted to trenches, steps and height differences.
  • Load capacity: certain walkway models allow up to 400 kg/m².
  • Passage width: options with internal widths of up to 100 cm.
  • Temporary or permanent use: depending on the model and selected fixing system.

Capacity depends on each model

The values of 400 kg/m², the 100 cm width and the guardrail configurations must not be applied automatically to the entire range. Always check the technical sheet of the selected walkway or platform.

How to choose a walkway or platform

Before placing the order, identify the intended use and carefully measure the installation area.

  1. Determine the type of use.
Define whether you need to cross a trench, create temporary access or facilitate wheelchair passage.
  2. Measure the distance or height difference.
For walkways, measure the width to be crossed. For accessibility ramps, measure the vertical height.
  3. Calculate the required length.
A longer length helps reduce the slope in access points with a height difference.
  4. Check the passage width.
It must be sufficient for the wheelchair, user, accompanying people or expected pedestrian traffic.
  5. Check the load capacity.
Add together the weight of the user, wheelchair, tools and any other load that will pass over it.
  6. Assess side protections.
Check whether the height or environment requires guardrails, handrails and toe boards.
  7. Check the supports.
The surface must be firm, stable and sufficient to correctly support or fix the structure.

Installation and maintenance

The walkway or platform must be placed on firm, level supports capable of bearing the expected loads. Any accidental movement during use must also be prevented.

Guardrails, handrails, toe boards and fixing systems must be assembled following the instructions corresponding to each model.

It is advisable to periodically check the condition of the surface, welds, supports, joints and side protection elements.

Deformed platforms, with loose parts, damaged surfaces or incomplete safety components must not be used.
