Permanent, temporary or sustained overvoltages are voltage increases above 20 percent of the nominal value of the distribution network that are maintained for several cycles or permanently. They are due to phase decompensation, normally caused by the breakage of the neutral, defects in the connection of the neutral conductor or failures in the transformation centers.
