The LGA lamp is widely used for raising piglets and other farm animals. The sensitivity of piglets to cold from birth is so critical that it can be said that profitable breeding is not possible without providing them with temperatures ranging from 35º at birth to 22º at weaning and 20º for rearing piglets. At the same time, both the pregnant and lactating sows require a temperature around 15º for their good performance. This difference in ambient temperature between the piglet and its mother is what requires having an additional heating system for the litter using LGA lamps.
The crushing of their piglets by the sows and the sensitivity to cold during the first weeks makes separate tillering and additional heat provision necessary for the piglets. So much so that it is currently inconceivable in the most advanced countries in pig farming, a profitable operation without taking into account these
requirements.
The arrangement consists of a space separated by bars that the sow cannot pass through, where the piglets will be placed under lamps after suckling. Indeed, in piglets the health status and growth rate are closely linked to the temperature of the housing.
The advantages of LGA lamps are many and among them are:
- The piglets are placed, once fed, under the protection of the lamps and to the side, but out of reach of the sow.
- The heat radiated by the lamp dries the bed, preventing colds and infections. The growth of piglets is considerably accelerated by experiments carried out in Holland; it has been proven that piglets raised under Infrared lamps reach the weight of seven-week-old piglets raised without radiation at five weeks.
- It also facilitates farrowing, so in the cold season, place the lamp already in the pigsty, some day before birth, the sow will give birth better and the ground will be warmed to receive the newborns, avoiding deaths due to chills.
Features:
LGA lamps replace the classic screw-type ones. This new lamp designed to comply with IEC-355-2-71 Standards is the only one on the market that can carry the CE mark and can therefore be marketed in the countries of the European Community, including Spain.
- It comes without light with 250W power and IP66 protection level.
- It has a built-in four-meter power cable with a grounding conductor, vulcanized to the lamp itself. It also has a suspension system with a three-meter chain and safety carabiner.
- Anodized aluminum reflector and captive and tilting protective grille that allows cleaning of the reflector.
Assembly:
A leaflet with Assembly, Warnings and Maintenance instructions is supplied with each lamp. It should be noted that the height with respect to the ground can be adjusted, but there should be no less than 500 mm separation between the lamp and the animals. For more information, contact our Technical Department.
- Protection against strong jets of water in all directions IP66.
- Holds 20 Kg of weight according to regulations.
- Captive tilting grille, allows cleaning of the reflector. If the lamp accidentally falls, it will remain in an upward tilted position to avoid the risk of fire.
- Black neoprene cable, vulcanized and prepared to connect to a junction box.
- The models are supplied in packages of 25 units.
